Sprinkler Upgrades Keep Our Neighborhood Looking Green Amidst Scorching Temperatures
The hot temperatures and lack of rain have been a challenge to all in the neighborhood. Keeping our lawns green and plants flourishing has been difficult. Timbergrove Manor Civic Club faces the same challenge.
Did you know sprinklers are located throughout the neighborhood on the esplanades on W. T.C. Jester Boulevard, W. 11thStreet, and Ella Boulevard? The sprinklers provide water to trees on the esplanades and plantings at the monuments. Fortunately, the City of Houston supplies water at these locations, at no cost to TMCC. However, TMCC is responsible for maintenance of the sprinklers.
As a result, the Beautification Chair and several Board members conducted a “sprinkler tour” in March to inventory and assess sprinkler status at each esplanade. The assessment identified multiple locations needing repairs.
The priority for 2022 are sprinklers at the monuments at the various entrances to the neighborhood. A detailed estimate for repairs was provided by TMCC’s irrigation vendor. Unfortunately, the cost of repairs exceeded the 2022 sprinkler budget. Therefore, a proposal was presented to the board at the July 2022 board meeting and additional budget was approved. A big thank you to our dues-paying club members–your funds make improvements like these within our neighborhood possible!
Our irrigation vendor is in high demand with extreme temperatures and drought conditions. Repairs for sprinklers at the monuments is currently scheduled to be completed by the end of August. If you notice any broken sprinkler heads or a leaking sprinkler, please email beautification@timbergrove.org with the location.
