2020 Board: Slate of Nominees Announced
The representatives of the Nominating Committee, as required and executed according to Article II Section 3 of the TMCC By-Laws, have created a slate of candidates we recommend to the dues-paying and voting members of the Timbergrove Manor Civic Club.
As a committee, we are recommending the election of each of the following people based on the efficiency, effectiveness, and proven record of each individual. Each nominee has proven a desire to improve the neighborhood, from increased neighborhood activities, representation within local government, and broader awareness and contribution of the Timbergrove Manor Civic Club.
Miles Sasser (President)
Miles served as TMCC President in 2019 and would be honored to serve again for 2020. Miles has a B.B.A. in Business Management as well as a M.S. in Geology from Texas A&M University and a J.D. from The University of Virginia School of Law.
Originally from Corpus Christi, Miles moved to Houston in 2009 and has called Timbergrove Manor home since 2011. Miles currently works in the Energy Industry at a leading independent energy company with prior roles in contract negotiation, offshore production, corporate strategy, and most recently offshore developments. He has been an active volunteer with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and the Houston Geologic Society, the State of Texas and Houston Bar Associations, and is the block captain for 6200-6499 Kury Ln. In their free time, Miles and his partner Zac enjoy being with friends and family, traveling, and attending Texas Aggie football games.
Alison Reynolds (Vice President)
Alison and her husband Brian have lived in Timbergrove since 2017. She grew up in the Houston suburbs and previously lived in Shady Acres before moving into the neighborhood in Section 6. Alison is a Texas Longhorn and received her Bachelor of Journalism degree in 2005. After working many years in the publishing industry — she and Brian met while both were working for the Houston Chronicle — Alison now manages Digital Marketing for a large corporate law firm based in Houston.
Alison and her husband love exploring Houston's many great neighborhoods but feel especially fortunate to have made their home in Timbergrove. They attend church at Grace Bible Church in the neighborhood. They can often be found walking their dog Birdie around W. 11 Street Park (sometimes while delivering Timbergrams!) or grabbing a bite at Cactus Cove. Alison is also the current editor of the Timbergram newsletter.
Jennifer Wilson (Treasurer)
Jennifer is currently a block captain for the 6200-6400 block of Cindy Lane, member of the Yard of the Month committee, and current Treasurer of the TMCC. I have been very involved with our neighborhood and TMCC since we moved here. My husband Nick and I, along with our daughters and two dogs, have lived in Timbergrove for nearly two years now. Our daughter Juliet is 9 years old and loves the fourth grade at Sinclair and her new neighborhood friends. Our other daughter, Gemma, is just a couple of months old and has already attended her first neighborhood block party this October.
I attended Sam Houston State University where I received my Bachelor of Business Administration with a minor in Management. I began my career in banking soon after high school as a part-time teller. Nearly 17 years later, I am now a Vice President and Compliance Officer of a local bank. I have a passion for teaching financial literacy to Houston area residents in need, ranging from children to senior citizens and am actively involved in the Harris Country Sheriff Office's Re-Entry Program as their financial literacy teacher who prepares inmates for release into civilian life.
Peter Davies (Secretary)
Peter is a Licensed Professional Engineer and has lived in Section 5 since 1988 and raised two daughters who attended Sinclair Elementary School. He has served as the Secretary of TMCC since 2010 and SNC-14 since its founding.
Micah Heilbrun (Director)
Since 2015, I have lived in Timbergrove with my wife, Amy, and twin five-year-old boys and our two-year-old son on Queenswood Lane.
As a family, we have a deep commitment to our community. We enjoy having retirees, single professionals, young families and everyone in between as part of our extended Timbergrove neighborhood. We are fortunate to be surrounded by such great neighbors in Section 5.
My wife and I are both native Houstonians. After a family move in 1988, I attended high school in Detroit, Michigan, played college football and lacrosse in Ohio and received my law degree at night while working for law firms in Detroit. Following graduation, I moved to Austin in 2002 and returned to Houston in 2004 when Amy reminded me that “Houston is home.” I work as in-house counsel for Phillips 66 and my wife is an oil and gas title attorney for a small firm in the Galleria.
In our spare time, our family enjoys outdoor recreation, camping, hunting, and sporting events. We cheer for the Astros, Texans, Michigan football, Denison lacrosse and the Eagles (U.S. National Rugby team).
Ryan Derong (Director)
Ryan Derong grew up in Katy and has been a Timbergrove resident since 2012. He and his wife, Jessica, live on Tannehill Drive in Section 14. Ryan attended Texas A&M University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering along with a Minor in Business. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer and has worked the last 10 years in the environmental consulting industry. Ryan has served the last two years on the Design Review Committee and is passionate about ensuring the neighborhood continues to be an excellent place to live. Ryan is an avid sports fan who loves spending his spare time watching the Aggies and Astros as well as enjoying the outdoors.
Jennifer Vickers (Director)
Jennifer Vickers has lived in Timbergrove Manor since 2011 and began volunteering with TMCC as editor of The Timbergram newsletter in November 2012. She currently serves as co-chair of the Neighborhood Security Committee, Webmaster, and Director. She and her husband Kirk Guy live with their chihuahua Diego on Pineshade Ln.
As a Top-Producing Realtor with Kelly Simon Properties, Jennifer sees the direct correlation between strong neighborhood organizations and property values. A native Texan, Jennifer moved to Houston from Beaumont to attend the University of St. Thomas more than 20 years ago and is the city's self-proclaimed biggest fan. She enjoys Houston's diverse and vibrant cultural arts and dining. In addition to her support of TMCC, Jennifer is honored to serve on the Board of Directors for the Friends of West 11th Street Park and volunteers with the Greater Heights Chamber of Commerce, Houston Area Parkinson's Society, and other area organizations.
Voting will take place at the General Meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at Sinclair Elementary. The elected slate will be announced at the end of the meeting and published in the January Timbergram.
