Residents had quite a surprise while making their way home from Sinclair when they found a few horses roaming the streets of Timbergrove Manor. Officers Shane Towler andChris Zboril, along with their sidekicks Texans Major—a thoroughbred—and Star, a Percheron, were visiting with friend and longtime Timergrove resident Pat Woods. Texans Major is sponsored by the Houston Texans and Percheron is sponsored by District A Councilwoman Brenda Stardig.

Star was a big fan of carrots and Texans Major was more of an apple guy.

The HPD mounted patrol unit was dispatched to Timbergrove post-Harvey to protect homes that flooded and their residents. The mounted patrol was active in many flooded areas once the storm cleanup began.

The HPD Mounted Patrol Barn is located at 5005 Little York Rd and welcomes unscheduled visitors M-F 12-2PM. You can also schedule a visit for a specific date and time or discuss sponsorship opportunities by calling 832-394-0394.
